Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda's most visited protected area, spanning 1,978 square kilometers of diverse habitats. The park is named after Queen Elizabeth II and offers one of the most complete safari experiences in East Africa.

The park's Ishasha sector is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behavior seen in only a few places in Africa. Lions climb into fig trees to escape insects and enjoy cooling breezes.

The Kazinga Channel, a 36-kilometer natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George, is home to one of the world's largest concentrations of hippos. Boat cruises offer close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and hundreds of bird species.

From savanna to crater lakes, from tropical forest to wetlands, the park's diverse ecosystems support an incredible variety of wildlife including elephants, buffalo, leopards, and over 600 bird species.
